Bay Area artist Damey drops off the official music video for his new self-produced single “Stop Playin.”
Currently residing in LA, Damey takes to the streets and public transportation to give listeners a classic, retro-inspired visual for his new single filmed and directed by SM Visuals707. A founding member of Diligentz with Jay Ant and AKAFrank, Damey is one of the artists who helped usher in a new sound in The Bay Area and sparked the post-hyphy punk-rock era all through Northern California. An unsung hero of his region, Damey has continued to drop quality music and show his artistry even when the spotlight directly wasn’t on him. Helping influence the music scene as a whole and artists like Lil B, Iamsu, P-Lo, and more Damey continues to reinvent himself with new sounds and styles. “Stop Playin” marks a new chapter for Damey as he really brings to reapply the pressure in his personal life and musical career. Recently having his single “Store Run” featured in the film ‘Blindspotting’ Damey continues to find a way to win as an independent artist and creator while being a hidden pioneer of the Bay Area 2000s sound.
“I went through a lot these past 10 years becoming a father and making up losses during the trial and error era. I felt it was necessary to speak my unfiltered, uncut raw truth on my life and be accountable for things that may have gone astray” – Damey
